PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia is the Sole Agent and Exclusive Distributor of Mazda Vehicles in Indonesia
SINGAPORE, 1 February 2017 – Today marks the official transfer of the distribution network of Mazda dealers from PT Mazda Motor Indonesia (MMI) to PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI), a member of Eurokars Group.
Mazda Motor Corporation’s appointment of PT EMI as the sole agent and exclusive distributor of Mazda vehicles in Indonesia was announced on 14 October 2016, and the transition over the past few months has been smooth and in accordance with plan.
The agreement to transfer PT MMI’s Mazda vehicles and parts distribution business to PT EMI is part of its efforts to strengthen business in Indonesia and localise its management for quick and efficient business operations.
The agreement reflects the long-standing partnership between Mazda Motor Corporation and Eurokars Group, and represents a significant milestone for the Group which has raised the profile and catalysed the expansion of Mazda since it became a dealer for Mazda cars in Indonesia in 2007, and then took over the distribution of Mazda cars in Singapore in 2011.
Mazda has achieved accelerated growth within a short span of time and will continue to post robust and positive growth. Sale of Mazda vehicles in Singapore in 2016 grew by 34 per cent from the previous year. And as of December 2016, Mazda is ranked third in Singapore in terms of new registrations, according to the latest Land Transport Authority New Registration statistics.
Mr. Karsono Kwee, Executive Chairman of Eurokars Group, said: “We are honoured to have gained the confidence and trust of Mazda Motor Corporation to be appointed as the agent and sole distributor of Mazda cars in Indonesia which is well-regarded as one of the most important markets in the region for Mazda. Our collaboration with Mazda Motor Corporation has been remarkable and rewarding, as evidenced by the notable growth of Mazda in Singapore and Australia in the past few years. We believe that the same success story can be replicated in Indonesia.”
Mr Roy Arfandy, CEO of PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia, said: “Despite the global economic downturn, the Indonesian economy has been resilient with solid performance which is constantly improving as shown by the 5.02% year-on-year increase in Gross Domestic Product in the third quarter of 2016. This has had a positive impact on all businesses including the burgeoning automotive sector in Indonesia. To support our growth plans in 2017, PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia and Mazda Motor Corporation will launch several new variants that will satisfy customers’ needs as those new variants will focus on delivering exhilarating and captivating driving experiences, and driver comfort through Mazda’s “Jinba Ittai” (horse and rider as one) driving dynamics.”
After the transition, Mazda car owners can expect enhanced customer service and after sales support. In line with what had been announced earlier, PT EMI is responsible for all after sales including the warranties of all Mazda vehicles sold by PT MMI prior to the transfer. Mazda customers can be assured that there are no changes in the after sales provisions and the availability of spare parts. Mazda supporters and motoring enthusiasts can look forward to more options that anticipate car owners’ needs and aspirations through an expansion of the model range and product line-up. Details of future models and the timing of their launch by PT EMI will be announced in due course.
“Over the past months, PT EMI has been working closely with all Mazda dealers to ensure business continuity and a successful transition. Together with our network of dealers, we will continue to drive the growth and market share of Mazda vehicles; raise the bar of performance; strengthen after sales services, and create memorable customer experiences from the point of pre-purchase to ownership at all Mazda showrooms across Indonesia. We seek and look forward to having continued support from all Mazda customers, our partners and suppliers,” added Mr Kwee.
