Eurokars Group Supports Gala of Light, a key fundraising event for compassion fund
Over $600,000 raised for financially challenged students facing a family crisis
Eurokars Group and the Lum Chang Group were the Presenting Royal co-sponsors for the Gala of Light, a charity fundraising event in support of Compassion Fund. The Compassion Fund is a Singapore-based, non-profit organisation and crisis response fund dedicated to assisting students from low-income families.
The Gala took place on 7 October 2022 at Marina Bay Sands, in celebration of the Festival of Lights also known as Deepavali. Synonymous with the values associated with Deepavali – celebration, gratitude and giving – the event was a resounding success with over S$600,000 raised for the Compassion Fund.
The evening welcomed over 270 guests including Guest of Honour Mr. S Iswaran, Minister for Transport and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, Mr. David Lum, Managing Director of the Lum Chang Group, and Mr. Karsono Kwee, Executive Chairman of Eurokars Group.
The event offered guests an opportunity to get up close and personal with three outstanding icons from the BMW Group – the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost, the BMW iX, and the MINI Electric. Eurokars Group and the BMW Group have enjoyed a long-standing and fruitful partnership within the region since 2003.
On 1 October 2022, Eurokars Group celebrated a significant milestone as it began operations as an official authorised BMW dealer in Singapore. The partnership between Eurokars Group and the BMW Group has now come full circle, with the Group’s portfolio now encompassing the BMW brand in Singapore, alongside Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and MINI in both Singapore and Indonesia, as well as BMW and BMW M in Indonesia.
Mr. Karsono Kwee, Executive Chairman of Eurokars Group, opined, “The Gala of Light and its supporting efforts for the Compassion Fund is an admirable cause aligned with our Group’s values of contributing back to the society, extending care and inclusivity at every given opportunity.”
Mrs. Kay Iswaran, Chairperson of Compassion Fund, commented, “The funds raised from the Gala of Light are integral to Compassion Fund continuing its work of helping many families suffering tragic circumstances in our community. Without the generous support of our Presenting Royal co-sponsors, partners and Gala Committee members, this event would not have been possible.”
“It was truly a fun night of glitter, glamour and gratitude,” added Ms. Samia Khan and Ms. Bina Rampuria, the co-founders of Gala of Light, whose mission is focused on creating support and opportunities for financially challenged families in Singapore facing the crisis of a recent death, illness, or accident.
Guests were also treated to a curated evening by Mélange Singapore, which consisted of an exclusive fashion showcase by Tarun Tahiliani, acclaimed Master couturier to royalty and Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities, and interactive live performances by the Vyas Brothers from India.
In addition, the Gala hosted a prestigious live auction featuring unique and bespoke experiences for attendees to bid on. They included the opportunity to enjoy a special wine pairing dinner with Minister and Mrs. S Iswaran at refined Indian grill restaurant Revolver, a four-hour private charter of an Italian Azimut 40 yacht, a family portrait session by artist Sheyna Baig, luxury hotel escapes with Raffles Hotel and Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, an exclusive tasting session of Tequila and Mezcals from Mexican super-premium spirit brand Código 1530, a modern Indian fine dining experience at two-Michelin-starred Thevar and a limited edition 2016 Scotty Cameron Masters Newport 2.5 Putter.
