Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility

As Eurokars Group drives luxury experiences and continues expansion in the region, we are also committed to giving back to society. Other than being an accomplished and celebrated business leader, Executive Chairman Mr. Karsono Kwee is also a philanthropist, espousing values such as nurturing relationships and investing in the community.

Being the largest privately-owned car distributorship in Singapore, Eurokars Group firmly believes in the power of automobiles in enhancing the lives of people and empowering them to fulfil their aspirations and meet their needs and requirements.

Since July 2023, Eurokars Group has extended our fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) to Food from the Heart, an IPC-status food charity dedicated to feeding the less fortunate in Singapore. This initiative aligns with our ethos of sustainable charity, evident in the use of our EVs in this programme – a contributing factor to our victory in the BMW Group Asia Polaris Sustainability Awards 2023, specifically in the Social Category. Our commitment to making a meaningful social impact continues undeterred with our announcement in November to make this initiative a quarterly endeavour.

In 2022, the Group won the People’s Association Community Spirit Award for contributions to pandemic response. These efforts included the provision of 15,000 masks and sanitisers to Singapore’s West Coast community, and funding of shuttle bus services for two months to fetch seniors and those with disabilities to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations. The successful initiative yielded a total ridership of almost 5,000 people and the achievement of a high vaccination rate amongst seniors in the community within the West Coast and Clementi Community Centre.

In the same vein, Eurokars Group was the first automotive company and private sector corporate entity in Singapore to donate an ambulance to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and National Centre for Infectious Diseases amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The fully-equipped ambulance provides vital aid and boosts the transfer of patients within and outside the hospital campus.

In recognition of our CSR efforts during Covid-19 alongside consistently supporting the People’s Association and its grassroots leaders, organisations and Community Development Councils, we proudly received the:

  1. People’s Association Community Spirit Awards 2022 – Merit Award;
  2. Public Service Medal 2022 (Covid-19) – Mr. Karsono Kwee; and
  3. COVID-19 Resilience Certificate 2023.

Eurokars Group, represented by Ms. Ong Lay Ling, Group Managing Director, was honoured to receive the People's Association (PA) Community Spirit Award from Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, Second Minister for Law, and Deputy Director of the People’s Association. The PA Community Spirit Awards are given to recognise exemplary partners who have assisted in supporting the PA and its grassroots organisations and Community Development Councils in building social capital and bonding the community.

In 2021, Eurokars Group donated a transporter to the Singapore Red Cross. The vehicle, which was modified for wheelchair access, enables elderly and disabled beneficiaries to travel to healthcare service providers and day activity centres.

On top of that, a vehicle was also contributed by the Group to SPD,  formerly known as Society for the Physically Disabled, which has been modified for wheelchair access in 2017 in order to facilitate day-to-day operational activities including therapy and rehabilitation sessions.

Eurokars Group is also a strong supporter and advocate of education. We strongly believe that education is the vital key that unlocks opportunities in life and opens the doors to a bright future and promising career path.

As such, in 2020, Eurokars Group donated $200,000 to the S R Nathan School of Human Development at the Singapore University of Social Sciences – the endowment fund provides financial support to part-time students from the Bachelor of Social Work programme. Prior to this, Eurokars is also the inaugural automotive company in Singapore to establish an endowed scholarship at the Singapore Management University in 2017 – the $250,000 contribution provides financial assistance to undergraduates pursuing academic excellence. Both contributions to the Singapore University of Social Sciences and the Singapore Management University are complemented by matching grants from the Singapore Government.

Since its incorporation, Eurokars Group has supported a wide range of charitable and non-profit organisations and causes. We are pleased to have consistently supported The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (since 2003), Team SportCares, Children’s Charity Association, MILK Fund, President’s Challenge and the Compassion Fund (Gala of Light 2019 and 2022). Under the leadership of Mr. Karsono Kwee, Eurokars Group will continue the tradition of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy.
